Milestones in Sano´s company history

The company Sano was established in 1976 as Sano-Milch, in Grafenwald, Bavaria. Back then, the products, firstly milk substitutes and later mineral feeds, were still manufactured by external, subcontracted companies. The products were sold under the name of Sano-Milch.
The foundations were laid for a comprehensive plant with the construction of the first warehouse in 1979. After quality stopped meeting management requirements, the company built their own mineral feeds plant in 1981. From this moment on, products were sold under the name of Sano.
The milk substitute production line and further continual expansion of the facilities followed in 1988. Until 1990, Sano products were only sold in Germany. New markets were developed and additional production and logistics sites were constructed with Reunification and opening of borders to neighbouring countries in the East. In 1996 the factory was rebuilt and renovated; everything was finally set up within just six months.
From humble beginnings, Bernhard Waldinger managed to become one of the largest German producers of mineral feeds, premix and milk substitutes in a relatively short time. Expansion continuously took its course: 2003 a Sano factory in Popovaca, Croatia was built. In 2004 the Sano factory in Novi Sad, Serbia followed and in 2005 an office with storage in Alexandrovac, Bosnia was built. In 2007 the fifth factory was generated in Csem, Hungary.
In 2008 a concentration plant for cereals with a capacity of 50.000 tons was constructed in Sekowo, Poland. Furthermore, the German production site was expanded with a new storage; in 2009 Sano expands beyond Europe’s borders. The production site in Xian, China opens its gates.
In the same year, the Sano Agricultural Institute Mero Merkur originates in Poland. The institute is a leading dairy-cow reference operating throughout Europe. Sano there builds a European peak operating with best performances and high quality standards on the field and in the stable.
2010 the new construction of the factory in Yangling, China and founding of the sales location Tirana, Albania followed. In 2011 Sano’s success story is extrapolated with the foundation of a sales location in Quito, Ecuador.
The way has been paved for the success of the company vision - Sano in every farm. The whole world over!
